How to Be a Competent Offshore Sailor
My wife Mia had never set foot on a sailboat. She's been across the Atlantic three times as well and more, more so than myself actually. So I think what you said about going from zero to being a competent offshore sailor absolutely applies if you're getting the knowledge from the right places. The problem with refits is there's a huge catch 22 and refits. If you want to go voyaging a refit is a good way to stay on the beach for a long time.
