If items are faulty you only need proof of purchase. Pay at least one P on a credit card for bigger purchases. If the retailer were to go bust or the retailer won't play flair with faulty items and you can't take items back you can go to the card firm. It is jointly and severally liable. Put a penny or more on a creditcard. The item you're buying has to cost more than 100 pounds in a penny but it doesn't matter how much you put on the credit card.
