Carbon Credits - Does Additionality Matter?
If a carbon project is real and permanent, how much does additionality of the credit really mattered? We have far too few resources flowing to projects that reverse climate change. If companies try to offset their omissions with projects that probably would have happened anyway, they're kidding themselves and us. What has a more negative impact on the climate? Strict rules around additionality that limit over all investment, or lax rules that weaken the mitigation power of each dollar spent but increase all investment?
