How Do Metaphors Communicate Truth?

I just want to point out that you use two sword puns, cutting and poking. Could you talk about how they communicate truth in a way that can't be done in any other way? Yeah, I think what I'm really getting at is to say that a metaphor isn't paraphrasable in the sense that like adoption doesn't mean quite the same thing as seeing being worn into a family. And so we got to stick with it in order to understand what Paul is saying.
