The Effects of Light Gaskin on Space Flight
At the University of Kent, we have a facility called a light gaskin. It allows us to take small objects about the size of micrometeorites that we're interested in and shoot them really fast. So what I've got here is some aluminium plates, solid aluminium plates that we've basically hit at seven kilometers a second. And you can see that you make a massive hole that's over a centimeter wide. The projectile that we were talking about here is a few millimeters in size.
