The Importance of Identity in a Family
I felt mostly that Lena probably had it the hardest. She didn't suffer in some of the ways that Donnie did later with his own addiction and issues for him. I think maybe because she was the least separate from her mother. And these are three kids who in the middle of their childhood had to sort of raise themselves. So it's really about an earned identity, not an assumed identity that they just grew up into.
