The Genetics of World-Class Climbers

The first study on this subject was done by American researcher Phil Watts who just passed away a few months ago. He found that these elite individuals did in fact possess a higher grip strength to bodyweight ratio and had a lower percent body fat compared with other non climber athletic groups. Now certainly world-class climbers aren't all clones of each other they don't all look the same there is significant variance among say 515 rock climbers but they all do fall generally between around 5 feet tall and a little over 6 feet tall.
