The Iranian Revolution was in 1979. Your parents' grandparents had come over from Iran in the early 80s. When my grandpa was about eight years old, it started to dawn on him that this wasn't a sustainable situation. So he went out and finds a family friend in the bazaar who has paint thinner. He gets the paint thinner at a good price, gives it to the government,. makes some money, and he feels on top of the world. A couple weeks later, he's in a geometry class and they pull him out of class and say the paint thinner you gave us was expired. And if you don't get us new paint thinner, you're going to jail.
