The Pragmatist View on the Death Penalty
In general, I'm not aware of too many churches that have outright positions on the death penalty. Historically and theologically, capital punishment is often connected with just war rhetoric. It's a form of punishment that's dramatically removed from the crime. After 30 years, you're dealing with someone who's completely different than the person who committed the crime.
