The Last Empire - Is There a Way to End the Lord Ruler?

The final end of the trilogy will be the finally taking on the lord ruler. I feel like, especially now that the truth is out there to an extent, i kind of take the throne and then rule over lantres and arolon together. But it'd be nice if they could get the city back to kits former glory in some way. Unless rathan has a suddenike change of heart somehow and just decides to leave behind the foutil faithlike, completely.
