The Importance of Experimentation in Fiction

August Cole: I'm a big believer in experimentation. It's one of the reasons why I write so many short stories in between these books, because it allows you to prototype different ideas and concepts that are not just about understanding what a certain technology is. In this novel, you're focused more in the Washington DC area. What was the significance of the different geographical positions for these novels? With Burnin's focus inside America, we really wanted to hone this argument that America,. that our society, that our political system, that our companies are extremely ill prepared for the coming wave of automation and AI related disruption.
