When Jung asked where the gods of the antique world went, he concluded those energies departed, leaving only husk for consciousness to fasten onto. What's real are not nouns, because nouns are transient vehicles. You can be left holding an empty light bulb. Does it move you? Does it touch you? does it speak to you today? And so forth.
