Papadock and the Haitian Uprising
Duvalier was under threat almost from the start. Most coup attempts, if you like, were comic opera affairs. This one was particularly so because there were only eight of them involved. The Haitian people themselves failed to respond to what they thought was happening in the barracks. Duvalier has triumphed but the failed coup is a warning that he cannot trust the army even after it's been purged.
