The Importance of Diversity in Writing

When we're talking about having diverse characters, this doesn't mean that your story suddenly needs to become about diversity. It's that it will change how that character interfaces with the problems that they run into. Passions play a lot into this. If you're passionate about your mint, that can alone make you interesting or evil. You can say right out the gate what Hermione wants. This is a big distinction in them as characters.
