Spotify, YouTube, and TikTok: Comparative Advantages
Spotify is the most unique out of all of them and does well because it's audio. The audio specifically works to their advantage because they've mastered what it means to have a passive listening experience. It's very different than trying to master a video platform, which is much more active. I think there were probably some specific things about the strategy in terms of the over indexing on celebrity podcasts that really resonate with true listeners.
