Protercast goes millions of years back in time to talk about the rise of mammals. This predates the triassic period, more than 252 on years ago. They managed to survive the meteorite extinction. Then this truly became the reign of the mammals - sabre toothed cats, woolly mammoths and so much more. Professor steve brasati from the university of edinburgh is our man for the job. He's also played a role in the new jurassic world film.
