The Hunta set the scene back when it had come to power in the 60s. By this time, the foundations for an upstart South Korean economy had been laid. As the economy grew, South Korea became home to a vast warren of sweatshops. Unions had since the days of re been state-sanctioned and tightly controlled if they existed at all.
