In the mid-70s, Stephen Hawking proposed that black holes could be incredibly tiny. We began to find them at the center of galaxies, including our own Milky Way. And perhaps the fate of our universe was to one day be swallowed into one giant black hole. But like any good golden age, this one was not meant to last.
