Xenophon's War on the Sea of Salmadessus

Xenophon's army invaded Thracian territory, defeated them in battle and burned most of their villages. They then marched back south to Suthi's camp. Two months had passed since the Greek mercenaries began fighting in thrace. Spartans were at war, probably on account of the aforementioned treacherous slaughter of their general Cliaragus. Thibron wanted to use their mercenary army and promised to pay each man a daraca month,. with the company commanders getting double in the generals four times as much. But Xenophon declined and opted to join the Spartan cause. He agreed to let them go because he could get in good graces with the Spartans, and because the soldiers would stop demanding
