Using Services Instead of Commodities to Manage the Grid

As we move into a more renewable and distributed future, part of providing reliable transmission grid is being able to manage volatility. That has a cost, because we have to procure resources that can ramp over a couple of hours if you lose a whole bunch of solar due to clouds coming over. And similarly, on the distribution level, there's a lot more volatility. So start thinking about services instead of commodities.
