Stephanie Coontz: I want to spend a little bit longer on the decision itself because I think we might have some fun disagreements. So this is about requiring platforms to disclose certain things like their community standards and the number of takedowns or things like that. Judge Oldham thinks everything's fine in the law, so totally cool. And he says, no first amendment rights apply, but even if first amendment rights do apply, this is content neutral. But what also just troubled me about both of these rulings is that they sort of likely apply a single standard to half a dozen or more different legal obligations which each really deserve their own separate first amendment analysis.
