The Importance of Symbols in the Constitution
Ramesh: Constitution is about symbols, and nothing is more important as a symbol. Gandhi was once asked what he thought of Western civilization. He said, I think it would be a good idea. So that's my view of ERA as well. But there's a framework. States do it. Adds to equality. Ramesh: Maybe at some point direct election, filibuster reform I think we can do without an amendment. And then both parties having been bit in the butt will say, hmm, that's one possibility.
