Alarm Sounds Are a Great Way to Attract Attention
Dr Judy Edworthy is a professor of applied psychology at the University of Plymouth in the UK. She's trying to understand what's going on in our brains when we hear alarm sounds. Alarms would sound in times of crisis to forewarn and call for help. They play a big part in fictional and historical accounts of war. One such alarm is the Yallar Horn, which translates literally as the Yelling Horn.
