I'm personally skeptical the war will be over by then. But for now, my view is that they are still capable of winning this war if we give them the tools we need. There are loads of reasons to believe that Putin is not about to launch a tactical nuclear weapon. And he doesn't really look like a man who wants to commit suicide, given how far he sits away from his officials at a table. He seems to value his own survival. Also, I personally very much doubt that he could launch a nuclear weapon very easily because it has passed through a chain of command. The other old chestnut that goes back to the 1990s again is that we'll have instability in Russia
