A bowling ball is not a homogeneous sphere. If it were, you wouldn't get gyroscopic effects. The amount of curve is affected by the oil on the lane. Oil originally was to protect the wood and also to limit friction. It's like billards: one day somebody put a piece of leather n the end of the tip. Then they ere able to put spin, and then they started the whole new world shots.
How do you bowl a perfect 300? On this episode, Neil deGrasse Tyson and co hosts Chuck Nice and Gary O’Reilly discover Euler’s Equations of Motion and the cheat codes to bowling with physicist Dr. Dave Alciatore.
