If I had the power right now and I understood that my house was crumbling I would be looking for ways to maintain the power by any means possible. Wouldn't it make sense to get these people riled up and violent to the point where you could crush them with your own Military and the police that you have? That would be the quickest easiest way for them to do it. Cultural revolution is the answer rejection of their narratives rejection of the Moral standard that they present as moral which we all know is backwards.
