How to Discern God's Voice

For 18 months I was just praying. God what is your purpose for my life? When I got to Romans chapter 12 verses 1 and 2 says I beseech you therefore brethren by the mercies of God that you present your bodies a living sacrifice. And then in verse 2 Romans chapter 12 verse 2 he says in be not conformed to this world but be transformed. Be transformed like a caterpillar spins a cocoon and comes out of butterfly through the renewing of your mind. The last part of that verse says that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. Man when I read that that's what I had been after for 18 months.
