The Trial of Osman Kavala in Turkey
Osman kavala is one of turkey's most respected civil society activists. He was handed a life sentence for attempting to overthrow the country's government during protests almost a decade ago. Seven other defendants who took part in the protests, among them a film maker, a lawyer, an urban planner and an architect, were sentenced to 18 years in prison.
