Buddhist metaphysics went through many stages. In india and china, everybody agrees that there is no self in the sense i explained in early buddhist philosophy. Under buddhism, there's nothing which is what it is in and of itself. And you can articulate that view in different ways. One obvious way to take it is in an idealist fashion, like kant or hegel. If you get rid of this kind of ultimate ground of reality, how do you understand the world?
