As a child in the 50s, there were no laws about discrimination against disabled people. "I realized that society by itself was not going to make these changes because it wasn't really looking at what the barriers were," he says. Well, and disability rights being something that maybe we should all have an investment in because as we age, we ourselves may need them even if we don't today.
