Gene Seymour: What attracted me to Jack Kirby's work was I grew up loving a lot of mid-century visual art. He says he first tried to read the Marvel comics of the 60s and couldn't see what all the shouting was about. Seymour: There's a difference between charitable and an uncharitable reading of it can be sometimes. And if you're willing to go in and say like, here's people who are trying to tell stories of diverse, complex people existing in a world that often hates and fears them or doesn't understand what they're doing, then there's something for everybody.
