Jesus is letting the guy answer the question. And I think Jesus maybe knows that how this guy is going to answer the question being an expert in the law, and so he's guiding him towards that. He lets the lawyer answer for himself. And you know, he answers correctly, the passages from Deuteronomy and Leviticus. But then it goes on to say, but he wanted to justify himself.
