Rodney was a prominent Afro-Gyanese thinker of his generation. He speculates that the example of the PPP as a mass party gave them an openness to socialism. Rodney's story ended in tragedy on June 13, 1980. A walkie talkie, given to his brother, Donald, turned out to be a bomb that exploded.
