The Transition From US R&D to Japanese Niche Markets
The US voluntarily shut itself down from advancing solar. Ron Reagan wins the 1980 election comes into office in 1981 and the solar's budget is cut by 90%. And so you can just see what happens, not just a technological progress, but to the people too. So it's important or it was really good that there was some country around to pick up the pieces and take solar to the next phase.
