I really don't think ikigay has something to do with the monetary i think monetary value, we have a word called hataraki gai. Hataraki is a job, and a guy is worth. I think it's different from iki gai. And of course, some people feel a cheap degree happy by achieving so much in a job. But then the bige may be rearded by borners. But i don't think it's iki gay.
