Rwanda has made extraordinary progress since 1994. But the brutal source of much of Kigali's wealth is plain to see just a few hours drive across the border in the Democratic Republic of Congo. DRC has huge mineral reserves that many of the mines in the east are run by Rwandan controlled militias. The rebel fighters from one particular group, called M23, have wreaked havoc across the region for more than a year.
