Women in Leadership - What Is Mary Magdalene?

In the letters written under Paul's name, the Pastaurels, we see a lot of verses that have been used to emphasize submission and keep women out of leadership. There is nothing in the New Testament that says that Mary Magdalene was a prostitute. She followed Jesus from what we can tell; she's one of the women who is going around with Jesus,. potentially supporting him out of her own finances. But then essentially, several hundred years later, there was a pope who basically preached a sermon in which he connected that passage with the sinful woman anointing Jesus - and it just stuck.
