We underestimate the power of evolution and we overestimate human intelligence. We can't believe that you can even model societies with partial differential equations, says Le Bon. This is a Cartesian illusion that you can reduce your life to partial differential equations. It looks compelling at the first glance because these equations seem so powerful but then you realize very quickly how little you can do with them as they only model very few variables.
