The Social War

The laws to expel non-Roman Italians in the repeated thwarting of any attempt to extend them the voting franchise eventually led to what is called the social war. Marius worked with another general, Lucius Cornelius Sola Felix, who had been one of his subordinate officers during the Jugrthine and Simbry Wars. The two men reached an agreement while they were boarded up in Marius's house wherein the new voting bill would pass. This would set up Marius for his route to eventually attaining a seventh consulship.
