Desalin's Battle of Porta Prince

French general desaline holed up in a mountain fortress called cret a pire, setting the stage for one of the most famous battles in history. The fort had recently been held by the british, who had expanded and strengthened it. Desalin tried to retake porta prince, and when that failed, he fought his way in past the small garrison and burned the city to the ground. He then marched into the interior of the west province, burning and pillaging all before him.
