i think, at least as a non american, the way i view America's exceptionalism is basically viewing the world through the American lens. In reality, in some weird nebulous way,  the united states is not bound to whatever laws or expectations or traditions of any other countries. Or even the international community has. Even that point of international community makes little sense, because usually whatever the us Wants, right? Whatever it believes, whatever it wants to fi can do. They get to choose whatever.
