The Importance of Context in Perception
The context comes from history. So there's no inherent value in context. If I give you a hieroglyph, that probably doesn't mean anything to you. But if I put it in a new context of hieroglyph,. It changes its meaning. But you still don't know what it means. Because that context is also just as ambiguous to you. In that sense, the concept of a context is arbitrary. And so this kind of context that we bring to bear when we're constructing our perceptions of reality are meaningless.
