The Importance of Small Firm Size in Technology Adoption
In many developing countries, like India, firms are very small. Do you see small firm size as a barrier to technology, adoption and work? Absolutely both. So far as I know, the adoption of all kinds of technologies increases quite strongly with firm size. Small firms that are not very innovative are not technologically advanced in terms of adoption either. And I think that's actually a problem. My previous books were very much motivated by economic development. The current book is much more focused on the industrialised world though with lessons and concerns for the developing world as well.
