"I would attribute that to my mom, really, my dad and the circumstances of growing up," he said. "When I was an extra on things, he was often an extra on the same thing." He says his theater teacher in high school made him want to be an actor. When he went to college for a few years it wasn't as easy because there were so many other people who could do what he did. But then Gus Vincent called when he was like 20 or something about doing Good Wuhan with Joaquin Phoenix. The two men are now directing each other's films together.
