Most of production from the steel and iron that oul eventually be sold into the war took place in factories owned by the japanese military. As the military wasn't too keen on a middle class developing, this was not a place where li liberalism was taking hold. This lack of any kind of economic diversification meant that when the war was over, as wars generally do, a shit got kind of hard again. When the world's economy prolapsed in 19 29, it got even worse.
