Bell's Omission From the 1974 Nobel Prize in Physics

The 1974 Nobel Prize in physics went to Anthony Huesch and another astronomer, Maine Martin Ryle for their pioneering work in radio astrophysics. Bell had been left out of this story, or at least left off of the Nobel Prize, and given to her PhD advisor instead. The famous astronomer Fred Hoyle argued from the very beginning that it should have gone to Bell.
