The Dangers of Performative Cruelty in the UK
The general consensus is that the UK will become an international pariah by upsetting itself from its system of immigration. Is there a danger that it becomes a paradigm for other countries who are similarly niggling about increasing numbers of migration? I do think that is a risk, and it's one reason why we need to dismantle as far as possible some of that apparatus of performative cruelty of vice signaling. Incidentally, I don't think that there is a particularly large constituency for that kind of politics.
