Learning Mathematics Is a Language

We don't stop teaching our children to read just because it takes one child two years instead of two months. What matters is that the language is being progressively acquired. Once you have developed linguistic ability, it's very hard to get worse. So math is a language and it's important to exercise it consistently and ongoing over time.
