The Importance of Dislodging the Narrative of Youth Work

People's perceptions and understanding of race, of racialized communities is important to understand. I do think the other part of it is making room for youth work that is not oppressive or that don't have these pathological and sort of pejorative narratives about the young people who come to those spaces. 2.4 million Black youth participate in after-school programs. And you don't hear a lot of that story being told that these are tremendous programs for a lot of these kids.
