Gloria Borger: News organizations have been too cautious about climate change. She says it's because of propaganda campaigns by the oil industry and right-wing politicians. Indonesia is a relatively poor country, dealing with environmental destruction caused by European colonizers, she says. Borger: We in the West are very good at overlooking the fact that our countries got rich and became major emitters of greenhouse gases.
Southeast Asia is especially vulnerable to storms, rising oceans, and other climate effects—though countries in the region did very little to create the crisis.
